Overview
Golfday (“Golfday,” “we,” “us”) provides software that tournament organizers use to plan, run, and collect payment for golf events, and that golfers use to check in, view schedules, score their round, message the organizer, and take part in auctions and raffles at the event they're playing in. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Two kinds of people use Golfday, with different amounts of information involved: Organizers, who create an account to run their event, and Golfers, who join a specific event through a private link or QR code and never need to create a password or account of their own.
1. Information We Collect
From organizers: your name, email, and phone number, plus the details you enter about your event (course, date, format, budget, and similar). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider instead of a password.
From golfers: name, email, phone number (optional), handicap, shirt size, dietary notes, and team assignment - entered by you during registration or on your behalf by your event's organizer. None of this requires a Golfday account; you're identified only by your event's private link or QR code.
Payment information: entry fees, raffle tickets, and auction payments are processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number - Stripe handles that under its own PCI-compliant systems, and we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded.
Photos: organizers may upload a course map or photos of auction items and raffle prizes. These are visible to anyone with a link to that event, by design - the same way you'd see them on a printed program.
Auction and raffle activity: bids, bid amounts, and ticket purchases are tied to the player who made them and are visible to other participants in the same event, the same way an in-person silent auction or raffle works.
Messages: the content of messages sent between an organizer and their players, delivered by SMS (via Twilio) or email (via Resend).
Device preferences: theme (light/dark), reduced-motion, and larger-text settings are stored only in your own device's browser storage. We never receive or store these.
2. How We Use Your Information
• Run the event you're organizing or playing in - registration, check-in, team assignments, scoring, leaderboards, schedules, and messages.
• Process payments for entry fees, raffle tickets, and auction wins.
• Send outbid notifications, event updates, and organizer communications.
• Provide customer support and respond to questions.
• Maintain and improve the reliability of the app.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
3. Who We Share Information With
Your event's organizer, who can see the information you provide for their event.
Other participants in the same event, for the specific things that are inherently shared as part of playing - your name on the leaderboard and team sheet, your bids and their amount in the auction, whether you've claimed a raffle prize. We don't share your phone, email, or handicap with other players; only your organizer sees that.
Service providers who help us run Golfday, each used only to provide their service to us: Stripe (payments), Twilio (SMS delivery), Resend (email delivery), and Supabase (database and file hosting).
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Golfday, our users, or the public.
4. Data Security
We store data with Supabase, using row-level access controls so that, for example, one organizer's event data isn't visible to another organizer. Traffic between your device and Golfday is encrypted (HTTPS). Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never touch our servers. No system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We keep event and player information for as long as needed to run the event and for a reasonable period afterward for the organizer's own recordkeeping (final results, payment history, and similar). You can ask us to delete your information at contact@golfday.com, and we'll do so unless we're required to keep it - for example, financial records tied to a completed payment.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Update or correct your information: in the app under Settings → My Info, or by asking your organizer.
Opt out of text messages: reply STOP to any text, or ask your organizer to remove your number.
Request a copy or deletion of your information: contact@golfday.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the CCPA or GDPR, including the right to know what we hold about you and to have it deleted. Contact us and we'll do our best to honor these rights regardless of where you're located.
7. Children's Privacy
Golfday isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We'll update the date below when we make changes. If a change is significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to let organizers know.
